The TAS Farm Innovation Hub acknowledges the vital contribution of Tasmanian Aboriginal knowledge, practices, and experience in supporting resilience. We recognise that meaningful engagement with Tasmanian Aboriginal communities requires deep trust, cultural safety, and respect for Aboriginal leadership, self-determination, and cultural and intellectual property rights. The Hub is committed to building these relationships thoughtfully and respectfully.
Our approach:
Increase cultural awareness among Hub staff and partner organisations to enable respectful engagement with Aboriginal communities.
Support initiatives of partner organisations that have established trusted relationships with Aboriginal organisations and communities.
Enable on-ground projects that strengthen drought resilience within Aboriginal communities.
Establish infrastructure and processes to protect Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) rights, ensure free, prior and informed consent, and uphold Indigenous data sovereignty.
