Project
Overview

As climate variability increases, Tasmanian producers are facing more frequent severe weather extremes, including droughts and floods, that threaten agricultural productivity and sustainability. The Water Use Efficiency Project is a proactive response to these challenges, supporting producers in building resilience through more strategic and sustainable water management practices.

This project is designed to empower farmers with confidence, knowledge, and the practical skills needed to optimise water use on farm. By adopting best practice irrigation and water management strategies, producers can better prepare for and adapt to the impacts of climate variability.

Project
Highlights

The Water Use Efficiency project is being delivered through 6 practical modules, each exploring a key area of on-farm water use:

  1. Irrigation Maintenance and Performance
  2. Optimising Irrigation Scheduling
  3. Irrigation Planning and Development
  4. Skill Development for New Irrigators
  5. On-Farm Water Storage
  6. Stock Water

Each modules content is available below, including a wide range of case studies and practical how to guides.

Resources

As the project progresses learning resources will be added to the webpage. There are useful resources for both rain-fed and irrigated farming systems.
