Project
Overview

Landcare Tasmania, in partnership with the Australian National University (ANU) and the TAS Farm Innovation Hub, delivered the Targeted Farm Dam Enhancement Workshops in key Tasmanian Catchments project across the Middle Leven (North West), Lower Meander (North), and Lower Coal (South) catchments.

The project aimed to build local skills and capacity to support best-practice farm dam enhancement for improved drought resilience, water quality, and biodiversity. It also supported catchment-scale prioritisation of revegetation efforts for ongoing action.

Driven by farmers’ need for practical, locally relevant strategies, this project combined demonstration sites, expert training, and community field days. Participants gained tools and knowledge to improve both farm dam performance and environmental outcomes. Workshops and field days sparked collaboration among farmers, natural resource managers, and community members statewide.

Project
Highlights

Establishing 3 demonstration sites showcasing practical dam enhancement techniques.

47 professionals trained through 3 Train-the-Trainer workshops.

Hosting 3 community field days, engaging 96 participants.
