The TAS Farm Innovation Hub, through the Regional Soil Coordinator program, is offering support to attend soil-related training opportunities.

Eligibility  

  • This opportunity is open to anyone currently residing in Tasmania, who works in soil management, research, extension, or advisory services.
  • This opportunity cannot be used to fund overseas travel or training; all activities must take place within Australia.
  • The training opportunity must be able to be charged or invoiced by May 30, 2026 (e.g. registration, travel or associated costs).
  • If your chosen training opportunity takes place before the application closing date (30th November) please contact the Regional Soil Coordinator in advance, via email.
  • You/your business, or employer, must have a registered ABN to be eligible for funding.
  • If selected, you will be asked to provide feedback on the training and a summary may feature in Hub communications materials.

Scope of support

Financial support of up to $3,000 per individual can be used to cover to cover the cost of training or conference registration, domestic travel costs, accommodation, and meals.

 Application Assessment

Applications will be considered by an evaluation panel against the following:

  • Evidence that the eligibility criteria have been met.
  • Demonstrated interest in increasing knowledge and skills in soil management, related to building resilience to future drought and climate variability.
  • Potential for practical, on-ground impact.

The panel will also consider other factors during the evaluation process, to ensure that an appropriate mix of industries and regions are represented.

The Regional Soils Coordinator project is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program under the Natural Heritage Trust, and is delivered in partnership with NRM South and the TAS Farm Innovation Hub.

The TAS Hub is one of eight hubs nationally funded through the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and is based at the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) at the University of Tasmania.
